Vintage Japanese GLASS FISHING FLOAT.. Kanji Maker's Mark, Bubbles, Blue (#37)
This float is approximately 10 inches in circumference which is about the size of a baseball. It is made of hand blown glass. This is a Japanese fishing float was actually used and has spent much of its life at sea. It has been picked out of hundreds of beachcombed and Japanese fishing floats to offer because of its unique qualities and characteristics. Its thick heavy glass contains impurities, inclusions and bubbles that are intrinsic to the Japanese manufacturing process. It is in good and sound condition with the normal wear one finds on fishing floats that have survived years of use in the ocean. The float is a beautiful pale aqua blue color and has nice Kanji Maker's mark on the pontil (see photos). It is rare and unusual to find floats of this size with such well defined makers marks. Every vintage float is different and this one has many beautiful unique features (see photos).
