This is a Japanese glass fishing float. It is approximately 8 1/2" inches in circumference (including net). It is a beautiful pale blue color and has a makers mark. It is made of hand blown glass. This Japanese fishing float was actually used and has spent its life at sea. It has been picked out of hundreds of beachcombed and Japanese floats to offer because of its unique qualities and characteristics. Its thick heavy glass contains impurities, inclusions and bubbles that are intrinsic to the Japanese manufacturing process. This float most likely spent many years at sea. This is a very collectible rare float that will be a great addition to any collection. This is a very rare float also because it has a makers mark on its pontil in the form of a seal button/patch with the mark inside the button seal (see photos). It is rare for small floats of this size to be marked and very rare for them to have a button seal. This is a very collectible rare float that will be a great addition to any collection.
