Vintage Japanese GLASS FISHING FLOAT Thick Glass With Bubbles & Odd Shape (#51)
This float is approximately 11 inches in circumference which is about the size of a softball. It is made of hand blown glass. This is a Japanese fishing float that was actually used and has spent its life at sea. It has been picked out of hundreds of beachcombed floats to offer because of its unique qualities and characteristics. Its thick heavy glass contains impurities, inclusions and bubbles that are intrinsic to the Japanese manufacturing process. It is in good and sound condition with the normal wear one finds on fishing floats that have survived years in the ocean. The float is a beautiful aqua green color. It has nice thick hand blown glass with many tiny bubbles and has an unusual slightly non round odd shape because of a slight depression (dent) on one side of the top of the float (see photos). It goes slightly flat at one side of top rather than the usual more round shape (see photos). This float is a rare find because of its nice color, thick hand blown glass with many tiny bubbles and unusual shape.
