Vintage Japanese GLASS FISHING FLOAT.. Makers Mark, Bubbles & Stains (#23)
This float is approximately 8 1/2 inches in circumference. It is made of hand blown glass. This is a Japanese fishing float that was actually used and has spent its life at sea. It has been picked out of hundreds of beachcombed floats to offer because of its unique qualities and characteristics. Its thick heavy glass contains impurities, inclusions and bubbles that are intrinsic to the Japanese manufacturing process. It is in good and sound condition with the normal wear one finds on fishing floats that have survived years in the ocean. The float is a beautiful pale blue-green color. It has nice hand blown glass with some stains on its outside surface from its time at sea (see photos). It also has a maker's mark on its pontil (see photos). This float is a rare find because of its mark that is rare on small floats and the natural stains on its surface (see photos).
