Antique PEERAGE ENGLAND Brass Fox Head Doorstop / Porter
This is a very nice mid to late 19th century brass and cast iron doorstop. The brass portion was cast in a naturalistic fox's head and the handle portion forms a riding crop and tail. The cast iron semi-circular base is impressed on the back "PEERAGE ENGLAND 19478". It would have been cast and made in the Peerage factory in England. This beautiful piece would have usually been found in a Country House or Hunting Estate in England. It is of great quality and wonderful design. This is an original antique piece that is both functional and collectible (is not a reproduction or replica like many of the pieces currently being offered). It is well crafted and is very impressive weighing nearly nine pounds and measures approximately 18" tall. It is in good vintage pre-owned condition with a very nice patina on the brass (see photos).
