Unusual mid-century set of rare vintage Japanese wooden Kokeshi doll salt and pepper shakers. Kokeshi dolls are characterized by their simple trunks and round heads. They originated in Northern Japan and are believed to have been souvenirs for visitors to the spas. These unique and beautifully hand painted wooden dolls are lacquered to preserve their lovely artwork. Each piece is a real work of art! These are in good vintage pre-owned condition and come in their original little box (see photos). The box does have some damage and wear consistent with their age (see photos)
