Vintage Japanese GLASS FISHING FLOAT Hand Blown Into Mold,, Number "2" Patch Mark (#49)

This float is approximately 11.5 inches in circumference (see note below regarding the circumference measurement)*. It is made of heavy hand blown glass but was blown into a mold and therefore does have mold marks. This is a Japanese fishing float was actually used and has spent its life at sea. It has been picked out of hundreds of beachcombed floats to offer because of its unique qualities and characteristics. Its thick heavy glass contains many impurities, inclusions and bubbles that are intrinsic to the Japanese manufacturing process. It is in good and sound condition with the normal wear one finds on fishing floats that have survived years in the ocean. The float's nice clean glass is an aqua green color and has mold marks and bubbles (see photos). It also has a circle patch mark stamped into the top with a faint number "2" in a circle. (see photos). This float is a rare find because of the UNUSUAL mold marks, number patch mark and its thick glass that embodies interesting bubbles and inclusions.

*NOTE: The distance around a sphere, or in this case a float, is known as the circumference.
