15" In Circumference Vintage Japanese Glass FISHING FLOAT Rare True Spindle Attached Inside (#47)

This is a rare Japanese glass fishing float with a spindle attached inside on side and bottom. Spindles are formed nside glass fishing floats during the glass blowing process. They are simply threads, or filaments, of glass that have basically dripped inside the float. The spindle in this float is what is called a true spindle with clear attachment inside the float on the bottom and one of its sides. The spindle inside this float measures approximately 2" from side attachment to bottom attachment. It was difficult to show in a photo in that the spindle is a very fine thread. However is is captured in a number of the photos (see photos). The float is approximately 15 inches in circumference (see note below regarding the circumference measurement)*. It is nice aqua green-blue color. It is made of hand blown glass. This Japanese fishing float was actually used and has spent its life at sea. It has been picked out of hundreds of beachcombed and Japanese floats to offer because of its unique qualities and characteristics. Its thick heavy glass contains impurities, inclusions and bubbles that are intrinsic to the Japanese manufacturing process. This float is also unusual in that it has some foreign matter embedded in the glass that can be seen as little brownish spot embedded as inclusions in the glass (see photos). It is in good and sound condition with the normal wear one finds on fishing floats that have survived years of use in the ocean. This is a very collectible rare float that will be a great addition to any collection.
